This place brings me back to the college days. It's a mixture of sports bar and beach bar with both types of patrons. I thought for sure I was going to like this place. It was wide open with large open windows overlooking the street and some hotels where you could get a glimpse of the ocean and sunset. Great decor hanging from the ceilings and lots of televisions to watch the game. It all might sound good, but it wasn't. We came in with a group of six and we sat at the only table that had room for six people and it wasn't cleared yet. No big deal right?! Well it wouldn't be a big deal but we kept trying to get the waitress to come over to clear the table and take our order and she just kept passing us by. There were only maybe 10 people in the whole place and there was no reason for her to ignore us. She finally acknowledged us and said sternly "I will be with you in a sec". Literally... we couldn't even get the whole word "second" out of her because she was so seemingly busy.

Either way, we were celebrating my friends birthday so we tried to stay in good spirits. We ordered some drinks and nachos for the table. DO NOT expect to get a good frozen drink here. We had a couple people order mixed drinks and those were fine, but their frozen drinks could be served to a minor. I am a LIGHT WEIGHT when it comes to adding alcohol to my drinks and I like to enjoy my drinks not be so drunk I forget what they taste like, but this was a joke. The only alcohol in the drink was the splash of color they added to the top. Horrible and expensive!

Everything on the menu was a little pricey, but that's to be expected when you're in a tourist area such as this. The nachos that we ordered weren't anything special just more expensive then normal.

So aside from meeting my friends here for more birthdays or celebrations I plan to stay away from this place. If nothing else I plan on staying away from their frozen drinks and food.

Another great little place in the middle of almost nowhere. The Covered Bridge is across from the Dunedin Golf course and although it's right off of a main road it's easily missed since there isn't much shopping or anything else except housing in this area.

When you walk in don't be surprised to see a completely open restaurant where everyone turns to watch as you enter. The open floor plan would make anyone feel like a teacher in a classroom, but the eclectic decorations and warm glow makes you feel right at home. If you missed the large sign on the door be warned that they only accept cash. This probably helps them keep their pricing so low.
There menus, both breakfast and lunch offer a bunch of all American Foods. Most of what they offer is a la carte which is nice when you could be in the mood for reese's pieces pancakes and corned beef hash or Philly cheese steak and a fresh cinnamon roll. I was trying to be good so I stuck with the corned beef hash. Jessica ordered a bunch of things to try and to take home. She got a green peppers, onions, cheese omelette with home fries and french toast. Everything is made fresh so you might be waiting a little longer then at Denny's or IHOP.

It's all worth it when you can taste the home cooking just by the smell of the food that comes to your table. With prices like $2.70 for country fried steak or $0.95 for home fries, it's worth checking this place out even on the smallest budget. The food is plain so if you like cinnamon on your french toast then you had better tell them when you place your order. The one thing that Jessica didn't like about her french toast was there wasn't much flavor until she added the syrup. As for me I was perfectly fine with my corned beef hash after pouring my usual 1/2 cup of vinegar on it.

So all in all I give The Covered Bridge 4 stars out of 5. Some of what I'm basing that on is the price and the other is the quality and portions of the food for the price. Hope that helps with your choices around the Dunedin area. Don't forget to check out the artwork downtown Dunedin.
